Panelists to Discuss if Diabetes Education Is Medication
The American Diabetes Association® (ADA) is proud to once again host its annual State of Diabetes: Raleigh-Durham during American Diabetes Month® on November 15. The event will be held at North Carolina Central University’s Student Center in Durham, NC. This community day of access and education will offer resources and information from leading diabetes experts on what companies can do to empower their employees to better manage their health.
"At the American Diabetes Association, we believe empowering our communities is essential in the fight to end diabetes. This panel event brings together leaders, advocates, and health professionals to share knowledge and strategies that can transform lives. By working together, we can create healthier environments and inspire individuals to take charge of their health, ultimately reducing the impact of these chronic diseases in our communities," said Deanie Eldridge, the ADA’s executive director in North Carolina and Virginia.
In North Carolina, approximately, 1,055,400 of adults, or 12.4% of the adult population, have diagnosed diabetes. Each year, an estimated 50,200 adults in North Carolina are diagnosed. The annual State of Diabetes event serves as a pivotal gathering, uniting employers, industry leaders, health care providers, and community experts. On a shared platform, professionals engage with an expert panel in critical discussions on how to leverage ADA resources to address the contemporary landscape of diabetes and the financial impact on employers and employees. Discussions are followed by a networking session.
With national sponsor Genentech, the ADA is honored to bring State of Diabetes to North Carolina.
Over 38 million Americans are living with diabetes, and with health care costs at an all-time high, people with diagnosed diabetes have on average 2.6 times higher medical expenditures than those without. This year’s esteemed panelists will share their expert perspectives on Is Diabetes Education Medication.
Registration is free and open to human resources professionals, corporations, and community-based organizations. To learn more and register, visit diabetes.org/sodraleighdurham. Media interested in previewing the event can schedule an interview by emailing press@diabetes.org.
